Programming With
BASIC-256

The class.
The week of 6/14-18/2010 I lead a group of 12 middle school students through an introduction to BASIC programming using the book. We had a great time and the experience seemed to be a great success.

The class hamming it up.
We spent two hours a day for five days and covered topics up to and including arrays from the book. Each student had a paper copy of the book and a PC with BASIC-256 loaded. Very little time was actually spent lecturing but examples were displayed using a projector and the kids followed along. After each new concept or two the kids were also encouraged to explore and play with what they had just learned for a few minutes.

This semi-structured environment seem to work very well for this group.
